Maintaining Your Health on Long Train Excursions
Travelling by train doesn’t bring with the potential health hazards of air travel. No hydration problems, although it’s always a good idea to have a bottle of water handy. There shouldn’t be any blood pressure difficulties and Deep Vein Thrombosis is something not associated to rail travel.
But there are some things which any traveler should consider when heading off on a long journey. As mentioned water is part and parcel of any journey, so a decent sized bottle is useful. If there’s a bit of a rush at the railway station and no time to buy at the shop there, then most long distance trains have buffet cars where drinks can be bought. Fruit is good for energy and vitamins, so oranges, bananas and apples are good to eat.
The one thing you can say about rail ravel is that is generally relaxing, so it’s not unusual to nod off on a long rail trip. This does no harm and apart from the fact your possible snoring will impact on other passengers, its good to arrive feeling refreshed. Especially if you have travelled 600 miles! Getting up and walking around stops you from feeling as stiff as a board, and this is true on any form of travel. At least on the train you can wander off to the toilets, or go down to the buffet car which provides some exercise.
The best advice for a healthy rail journey is to simply relax, take a book, or some pod music and let the train do the rest. It’s as good a way to get from one place to another as there is.
If you are planning a long train journey, make sure you have enough essentials like water and food to make sure you stay healthy through out the trip. Many people who have home care Hampshire are often on these trips so make sure they have all their essentials for the entire trip.
