Favourite Games on Rail Trips
The traditional game of the long rail journey was something like eye spy, where items were ticked off when seen. It was and still is a simple game, and one which children enjoy as they try to outdo each other. It’s a good starter for the holiday and gets everyone in the right mood.
With the advent of the sophisticated electronics industry it’s a sure bet that whilst the simple books games hold the attention, there are plenty of computer based games for everyone to have ago at.
But you do see many people on rail journeys (and in fact any form of long distance travel) absolutely engrossed in the crossword book. These can be bought at the station shop and keep peoples attention for hours. Some appear to be totally obsessed by them! Equally many like to do the daily newspaper crossword puzzle, so the electronic game has not yet taken over entirely.
The options on the computer based games come from those on the mobile phone through to the recent innovations such as the computer tablet. Apple leads the way with the ipod, but in hot pursuit are Blackberry and Amazons, Trimble. Just about any sort of games can be enjoyed on these e machines, as systems have developed, so the graphics have improved beyond belief.
What seemed at one time to be a great game with decent graphics is now considered old hat. The age of games goes from war like action adventure games to complicated puzzles which leave the user staring blankly at the screen – great for a long train journey!
